Five UAE Brands Kicking Butt on Social Media | October 2015

Every month we round up five local brands doing fantastic things on social media. Here are our picks for October!

No. Fifty Seven Boutique Cafe

No.57 Cafe
This cafe is the passion project of the duo behind The Dinner Club 57, the UAE’s first secret supper club. Mainly posting curated pictures of its delicious menu has caused this brand to be one of the leading UAE restaurants on Instagram with 14.5k followers. The most interesting thing about this account is that while the restaurant in based in Abu Dhabi, its social media techniques have caused it to garner interest from followers in other emirates, some of whom travel to the capital just to try the restaurant’s famed Ermahgerd dessert (that’s Oh My God with your mouth full, in case you didn’t get it).

Insydo

Insydo Instagram
Insydo is a new startup that promises to help you discover the best that Dubai has to offer. They bounded onto the social media scene last week with a humorous video announcing their beta launch. Humour appears to be a key pillar of the site’s social media strategy, and the team is not shy to share funny behind the scene photos from their offices. I’m also a fan of the CEO’s decision to share her startup experience as they grow through LinkedIn, as this shows a willingness to help other startups learn from their ups and downs. With this two pronged approach, Insydo increases brand awareness with end consumers through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, while they develop their name in the startup scene with LinkedIn. Clever.

Emirates

Emirates Instagram
I usually prefer to focus on SMEs in this feature, but I felt that it would be unfair not to give Emirates a shout out this month. The marketing team has been on fire recently and is completely nailing the viral video game. First came the release of the Jennifer Aniston advertisement early in October, and just a few days ago the airline released an awesome clip of a “safety demonstration” their crew conducted at Estadio de Luz at a Benfica game. I won’t say more about either video and allow you to instead enjoy them yourself. It won’t be hard to see why both were shared tens of thousands of times on social media.

Bil Arabi by Nadine Kanso

Bil Arabi Instagram
I want to buy pretty much every piece Nadine Kanso has ever designed. You will too after you see her Instagram page. Her jewellery is a fusion between Arab influence and modern chic, and her social media pages are a fusion between gorgeous product photography and news updates. Informative and beautiful,  Bil Arabi deserves a mention in the roundup this month.

Little Majlis

I feel like I know the founders of Little Majlis, even though we’ve never actually met. The tone of the handmade marketplace’s social media pages sweeps followers and fans into their crafty little world and fills them in on all the fun the founders are having. The business has a consistent SM strategy, look, and feel which means that I am able to spot their posts before I even see their logo. The team also puts out a quality monthly newsletter that continuously reminds users of the site’s offering and keeps them updated on its news. Fun and friendly, Little Majlis is definitely one of my favourite brands on social media.

  1. A huge thank you to the marketingspark.com! It’s so lovely to have our hard work (well often it doesn’t feel like work but at the end of the day it is!) recognized. And always good to hear we must be doing something right. It looks like we are in excellent company this month too! Anna & Annabelle (littlemajlis.com).
